Salary: 8,000 - 9,000 PLN/month gross (before tax) based on your competencies, skills, and experience.

Schedule: 1 FTE (40 hours/week)

We are looking for a motivated, reliable, and proactive Junior VAT/Tax Compliance Specialist to join Baltic Assist's International Tax team.

This role is primarily focused on supporting Polish and international clients with VAT compliance, reporting and advisory tasks. We are looking for someone with hands-on experience in Polish VAT reporting processes, local filing requirements, tax audits, and other tax administration procedures.

Beyond VAT compliance work, there will be an opportunity to participate in various international tax advisory projects, collaborate with experienced tax professionals, and contribute to the continued growth of our Tax department.

What you'll be doing

As a Junior VAT/Tax Compliance Specialist, you will support senior colleagues in delivering high-quality VAT compliance and tax advisory services to Polish and international clients. You will gain exposure to a variety of local and international tax matters, gradually take ownership of your responsibilities, and work directly with clients in an international environment.

This is a fully remote position based in Poland, requiring close collaboration with colleagues from Poland and Lithuania from Tax, Financial accounting and Sales service lines.

How you'll spend your day

  • Supporting Polish and international clients with VAT compliance, reporting, registrations/de-registrations, and ongoing tax obligations (including JPK_V7, VAT-UE returns).
  • Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining VAT-related documentation, calculations, returns, invoices, agreements, and supporting records
  • Monitoring changes in Polish and international tax legislation and assessing their practical impact on our clients and us.
  • Researching tax issues and presenting clear, well-reasoned conclusions to senior colleagues and clients
  • Assisting with the preparation of tax opinions, memorandums, client communications, and other deliverables
  • Participating in client meetings and supporting day-to-day client relationship management
  • Escalating identified tax risks, compliance issues, and technical questions to senior team members
  • Supporting other tax advisory projects, including international tax, direct tax, and transfer pricing matters under the guidance of senior team members
  • Contributing to internal knowledge sharing by monitoring tax developments, reviewing local and CJEU case law, preparing newsletters, blogs and maintaining internal know-how materials
  • Assisting with the development of internal tax processes, procedures, templates and service delivery standards
  • Supporting business development initiatives through market research, opportunity assessments, client targeting activities, and preparation of proposals
  • Identifying and implementing tools and solutions that improve the efficiency and quality of VAT/tax compliance services
  • Contributing ideas to the continuous development of the Tax department and its revenue growth
  • Supporting the Financial Accounting team with bookkeeping, invoice processing, reconciliations and other accounting-related tasks when the workload in the Tax department allows.

You'll be successful if you have

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, Law, Economics, or a related field
  • At least 1 year of practical experience in Polish VAT compliance and reporting
  • Good understanding of Polish VAT legislation and technical compliance processes
  • Experience working with Polish tax reporting systems and administrative procedures
  • Strong interest in taxation and willingness to continuously develop your tax knowledge
  • Excellent Polish and English communication skills, both written and spoken (the communication within the team is mostly in English)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail
  • Ability to research complex tax issues and communicate findings clearly and in a structured manner
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Willingness to gradually assume greater responsibility and level of ownership
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and willingness to support accounting-related work when needed.

Nice to have

  • Experience or at least basic knowledge in direct taxes (CIT, WHT), transfer pricing principles
  • Understanding of accounting principles and practical accounting experience
  • Working in a consulting environment
  • Genuine interest in business development, process improvement, and technology-driven tax solutions
