Platform Engineering Solution Architect

Location: Europe (remote)

Schedule: Full-time.

Contract: 1-year contract starting June 2026 with a high possibility of extension.

What you'll be doing

We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineering Solution Architect to join our client team on a public-sector project. In this role, you will play a key part in establishing a platform engineering discipline and building the technical foundation to support it.

You will be responsible for designing and implementing core platform solutions, aligning them with existing infrastructure, and ensuring high standards of security and scalability. This is a hands-on role requiring both strategic thinking and technical execution.

How you’ll spend your day

• Design and build the core technical solution for platform engineering.
• Align new solutions with existing infrastructure and technologies.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the development team.
• Actively contribute to development (hands-on engineering).
• Implement and ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards.
• Support the development of a platform engineering discipline and community.
• Enable self-service capabilities for project teams.
• Drive standardisation of tools and reusable solutions.

You'll be successful if you have

• Hands-on experience with platform engineering architecture onboarding within an organisation (since January 2023).
• Strong hands-on technical background combined with architectural thinking.
• Ability to work in structured environments with strict requirements (public sector).
• Proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Fluent English (written and spoken). 
• Experience in the following technologies will be considered a strong advantage (the more, the better):
  • Red Hat OpenShift
  • GitLab
  • Backstage (Spotify) or Red Hat Developer Hub
  • OpenTofu or Terraform
  • Ansible
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • HashiCorp Vault or OpenBao
  • Prometheus
  • Grafana
  • Quay (container image management)
  • SD-LAN
