What you'll be doing 

We are looking for a skilled AWS Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team at one of the country's biggest players in finance. 

This position is a part of our client's Finance Department. The Finance Department's mission is to help our client company achieve its financial potential by fostering a financially robust institution, creating value for customers, colleagues, society, and investors. This is achieved through the efficient management of the bank’s finances. Our client efforts focus on a range of initiatives, including the delivery of timely and precise financial information to investors, regulators, and internal stakeholders, as well as optimising the management of financial resources. 

You will join the Tech Enablement Team, whose mission is to enable a compliant tech infrastructure and minimise reliance on legacy systems. As part of the squad, you will collaborate with System Analysts, Full-Stack Developers, and Data Engineers to develop a data platform on AWS. You will thrive in an innovative and collaborative environment that emphasises knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. 

How you'll spend your day 

  • Help in designing a modern technical architecture on Cloud Native accounts – AWS.
  • Use services like Step-functions, Glue, Lambdas, RDS, ECS/EKS, all defined using Terraform modules. 
  • Collaborate closely with IT architects, developers, DevOps engineers, and cross-functional teams across the bank. 
  • Pursue continuous learning and drive improvement for yourself and your team. 
  • Challenge and enhance existing processes and methodologies. 
  • The primary application development language is Python. 
  • Leverage tools such as Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and alerting solutions

You'll be successful if you have 

  • 5+ years of experience with public cloud, preferably AWS, and its services (e.g., Step-functions, Glue, Lambdas, RDS, ECS/EKS, etc.). 
  • Proficiency in CI/CD processes and tools, ideally with GitHub Actions. 
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices and tools such as Terraform. 
  • Familiarity with infrastructure and application observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and CloudWatch. 
  • Experience with containerised applications and Docker. 
  • Knowledge of Python is an advantage. 
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language, with PowerShell or Bash being particularly desirable
