Cilium Consultant (Kubernetes/Talos)

Location: Europe (remote), with occasional travel to Billund, Denmark

Schedule: 1 FTE (40 hours/week) 

Contract: 1-2 months initially (high likelihood of extension in 3-month increments)

What you'll be doing 

Our client is a globally recognised consumer goods company founded in Denmark, known for its commitment to innovation, quality, and digital transformation. We are looking for a hands-on Cilium Consultant to support our client's complex Kubernetes environment, with a strong focus on networking and CNI optimisation. You will play a key role in reviewing and adapting existing Cilium configurations to fit a specific network architecture, ensuring stability and performance in dynamic environments.

This is a highly technical, execution-focused role where your expertise will directly impact platform reliability and scalability.

How you'll spend your day 

• Analyse and review the current Cilium configuration in a Talos-based Kubernetes setup.
• Adapt and optimise Cilium to align with specific network architecture requirements.
• Document architectural decisions using ADRs (Architecture Decision Records) in Markdown.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure stable and efficient network operations.
• Provide clear, direct, and constructive technical feedback.

You'll be successful if you have 

• Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Cilium (minimum 1 year with Cilium).
• Experience working with Talos (primary requirement).
• Solid understanding of networking concepts and operations.
• Experience running and maintaining Cilium in production environments.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with OpenShift
• Knowledge of OVN
• Familiarity with EgressIP solutions
• Experience in volatile or complex network environments
• Exposure to AWS / EKS
• Understanding of BGP and eBPF
• Experience with Grafana
